Staff from the Chestnut Group braved the hot weather this week and got on their bikes to raise money for Waveney Foodbank.
The group, which runs several hotels and pubs across East Anglia including The Ship at Dunwich and The Feathers at Holt, regularly raises money for charity through challenges and appeals.
Their annual Pedals With Purpose initiative involves a four-day pub to pub safari across East Anglia to raise money for local foodbanks and this year will be visiting 10 foodbanks along their route, including us. Pubs and hotels in the group have also asked customers to donate food to them or £1 on every bill as a way of highlighting the vital work of food hubs. Over the last few years the group’s charity The Giving Tree has raised over £280,000 for local charities and community initiatives across Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.

From Tuesday, April 29 to Friday May 2 the group will have cycled approximately 521 km (323 miles). They were welcomed to our warehouse on Wednesday by Operations Manager Jemma Jackson who congratulated them on their stamina and said the foodbank was hugely grateful for their support.
