A HUGE thank you goes to Tesco Diss customers, you have helped deliver the equivalent of 136,000 meals to people in need.
.
Tesco customers have helped deliver the equivalent of 136,000 meals to people in need through a community food programme.
The donations were made at the Tesco superstore in Diss, where customers contributed to an ongoing scheme supporting Waveney Foodbank through the Trussell Trust.
Matt Scade, project manager at Waveney Foodbank, said: “We are incredibly grateful for the continued support from the Tesco Diss superstore and its generous customers.
“The donations we receive help us provide emergency food parcels to individuals and families facing crisis across the Waveney area.
“Tesco’s support plays a crucial role in helping us meet this growing need.”
The store has collected these donations over several years.
In addition to the foodbank scheme, the store also donates around 100kg of surplus food each week through FareShare, which is equivalent to about 200 meals.
Beneficiaries include the Salvation Army, Hope Church, Diss Community Larder, and Merryfield’s Nursery.
Tesco has also provided fresh flowers, Christmas hampers, and coordinated deliveries from the Warburtons distribution centre.
Each Christmas, the store donates festive hampers to local charities.
